First and foremost, on behalf of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, we offer our deepest condolences to the victims of the massacre in Las Vegas, including family and friends.
Instead of rushing to unsubstantiated judgements, we ask that everyone – including the media – take a moment to reflect on this horrific tragedy and let law enforcement authorities conduct a thorough investigation. That said, there’s no doubt this incident will spark a fierce debate about gun laws in America.
When the time for debate comes, we ask that concerned citizens analyze all of the facts of the case, as well as gun laws already on the books, and think critically about any legislation those seeking to exploit this tragedy will be proposing.
In addition, though we understand the frustration, we ask that all of our members resist stooping to the lows of our opponents. Let’s rise above the fray, address the facts and unite this country around what makes us great – life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
