Why Shayna Matters: From Rape Survivor to Concealed Carry Activist

Shayna Lopez-Rivas’ story matters and she’s got a message that New Jersey’s anti-gun politicians and advocates need to hear.

A New Jersey native and campus carry advocate, Lopez-Rivas was raped at knifepoint on her gun-free campus at Florida State University in 2014. Since that horrific crime, Shayna has gone from anti-Second Amendment advocate to concealed carry activist that is dead serious when she says “never again.”

While working on a project to raise awareness about NJ politicians fighting to restrict a women’s right to choose how she defends herself, Shayna spoke with NJ2AS about her journey from victim to empowered survivor and Second Amendment activist. WATCH BELOW:
